{sick day}

Mason had a rough week this week.  All the kids have had colds...their new school is amazing...but also very demanding.  They have a lot of homework at night and work hard at school.  We've also been trying to figure out school lunches.  At his last school they had two options every day that he could have...peanut butter and jelly or a chicken sandwich.  He liked the chicken sandwich, so I didn't worry.  Here, they have only one option...sunbutter and jelly (and its grape jelly, which he hates).  So, I've taken him lunch when he forgot his home lunch once, then on Thursday I misread the lunch menu and got him all excited for corndogs.  It was actually enchiladas.  He walked in the door and just started crying because I had told him wrong and that he only had fruit for lunch.  I felt so bad.  So, when he got up Friday...we decided it was a sick day.  Grandma and Grandpa B were here and we decided to go play.
One of the nature centers nearby has a working farm that you can walk around and see them working.  Of course, first we had to check out the turtles.  They also had poison ivy growing, so the kids got educated on what to avoid.
Grandma was a trooper walking the mile to and from the farm.  We hoped it would ware out the kids, but they didn't skip a beat.
Leaf races.
Checking out the pigs.  They had a smokehouse with pigs hanging in it.  The boys weren't quite so sure of what to think of that.  It smelled so good, but looked not so good.  Parker wasn't even sure of what he saw because later he asked me why the pigs heads were hanging there.  (no, there were no heads)
This cow's tongue was cracking me up trying to get that walnut.
I was waiting for an "America's Funniest Home Video" moment as Parker kept creeping closer and closer.  Luckily, he chose to listen to me and grandpa and backed away.
We got our own personal tour guide.  She opened up the barn for us to see the cows and the farm equipment.  The boys loved trying it out and Sophia was fascinated with the cows and of course the horses!

Afterwords we went and ate at a Chik-fil-a that just opened here.  Then it was back home for soccer practice then a p-a-r-t-y for Sawyer.  All in all....it was a pretty good sick day.
